HACKUP: selective betting makes 34% ROI

Horse racing tipster HACKUP really sparked my interest recently with now seven out of seven consecutive months profit since starting.

If you missed it, you can read the HACKUP technical analysis I did a few days ago.

A Win Rate around 45%, ROI at 18% to BSP and average monthly profit of over 100 points should definitely spark anyone’s interest.

Could I make a few tweaks on the HACKUP tips and maybe get an even better ROI?

Here’s what I found when I dug a little deeper and analysed all 383 HACKUP tips so far.

There were 34 Each Way tips (9%) and  349 Winner tips (91%).

There were 20 void bets which left the Each Way Win Rate at 56% and Win Rate of Winners at 46%  – all excellent results.

But, was the profit, or indeed the loses, coming from particular odds ranges?

Immediately obvious was that Winner tips at advised odds below 2 were making a loss. The breakdown looked like this:

Winner Bets Odds analysis

Odds No. of Bets Profit / Loss ROI
1.00 – 1.99 78 -117 -18%
2.00 – 2.99 151 120 7%
3.00 – 3.99 65 329 32%
4..00 – 4.99 21 -46 -16%
5.00 – 5.99 8 112 62%
6.00 – 6.99 5 150 79%

Each Way Bets Odds analysis

Odds No. of Bets Profit / Loss ROI
6.00 – 6.99 8 103 63%
7.00 – 7.99 8 119 66%
8.00 – 8.99 5 32 44%
9.00 – 9.99 2 38 65%

There were 10 Each Way tips with advised odds bigger than 10 up to 25.00 that together made a loss of -88 points. I’ve discounted these entirely.

Interpreting the odds analysis

You can’t read too much into the results for the Winner bets in the 4 to 6.99 range and ALL of the Each Way bets because there are just too few bets so far.

But you could broadly argue you’d make more money following HACKUP tips but betting selectively as follows:

  • only bet Winner tips where advised odds are between 2.00 to 6.99
  • only bet Each Ways tips below advised odds of 10

If you bet only these selective 286 tips from the 383 tips so far profit would have been 959 points and an ROI of 34% – compared with HACKUPS 743 points profit and 20% ROI.

Conclusion

I’m sufficiently encouraged by these results that I’m going to include HACKUP in my personal portfolio starting May’24 but betting only those tips based on the advised odds as above.

That is Winner tips with advised odds between 2.00 and 6.99 and Each Way tips from advised odds of 6.00 to 9.99.

Why?

  1. Consistency is a big thing for me and HACKUP is shaping up as a very consistent tipster
  2. I hate long losing runs so the 45% Win Rate keeps those relatively short
  3. Only placing 1 or 2 tips a day keeps this time and effort to a minimum

And right now you can get  1 Month of HACKUP tips for only £1.90 – its really a no-brainer.

It’ll be an interesting few months ahead and interesting also to see if my odds based betting holds up and out-performs HACKUP itself. You can follow the success or failure of this on my Personal Portfolio.
