TIPSTRR: Best horse racing tipsters of 2023

Last year, 2022, Tipstrr rated OutsiderSpeedPicks as their 2022 Horse Racing Tipster of the year – you can read their excellent reviews here – Part 1 , Part2 and OutsiderSpeedPicks. How many from this list have stood the test of time?

Before they do their 2023 round-up I thought I’d get in quick with my assessment of who I think the top horse racing tipsters of 2023 are. It’ll be interesting to compare the two.

In their 2023 article Tipstrr will naturally be focussing on generating sales by focussing heavily on the positive elements of tipsters such as ROI, Profit and Profitable months. However, wanted to provide a more balanced view by including elements like Risk, achieving advised odds and the time and effort needed to follow the service.

ROI: a key number telling you how efficiently the tipster has generated profit
PROFIT: how much cold-hard cash could have been put in your back pocket by following the tips during 2023
TIPS/DAY: a gauge of how much time and effort you would have needed to commit to following the tips
RISK: an indication of how variable the profits and ROI have been during the year – straight-line growth or roller-coaster ride
PM/TM: a consistency factor showing profitable months during the year
MoC: Months On Chart – how many months the tipster has appeared in our Top Tipster Chart in 2023
ROI at BSP: ROI at Betfair Starting Price – used as an indicator of how difficult it might be in getting the tipster’s advised odds

1 HORSE FOR A COURSE

A low cost, low risk, high-return horse racing tips service that has delivered an incredible 56% ROI to advised stakes and odds and just shy of 4,000 units profit over the last year.

Not only that but being able to produce a 24% ROI at BSP (since the service started) does look like a huge benefit for anyone following this tipster. No need to rush to get bets on before they crash AND no worries of account restrictions or closures at Betfair. However, this figure does flatter to deceive. A previous post on BSP threw a bit of a spanner in the works for this but that said, there are possibilities here.

This is an easy to follow service with just 1 or 2 tips a day usually posted around 4pm – 8pm UK-time.

Horseforacourse had 9 profitable months during the year (75%). The average losing month lost 100 units. The average profitable month won 470 units. In other words, you were 3 times more likely getting a month of profit and the profit was over 4 times what you might have lost. And its pretty much the same stats for the whole three and a half years since the service started.  a

The Months on Chart (MoC) figure shows that Horseforacourse appeared in top ROI performers in 9 out of 12 months of 2023 making it reasonably consistent.

2 UNDERDOG RACING TIPS

A low risk, each-way horse racing tips service that has delivered 42% ROI and 21,000 units profit over the last year.

There’s a pretty high 7 tips a day for you to handle so you’re going to be kept reasonably busy. Tips are published between 8am and 8pm UK time. But it can be difficult to get the advised odds at times. Stakes are a fixed 10 points at average odds of 17.

The Months on Chart (MoC) figure of 11 shows that Underdog Racing Tips has appeared in top ROI performers in 11 out of 12 months of 2023 making it the most consistent horse racing service of 2023. It’s also had 11 profitable months out of 12. The losing month (January) would have cost you -138 units. The other 11 months averaged 1,900 units profit – each!

The service has been operating for over 4 years now and so far 82% of those months have been profitable – you’d have been four and a half times more likely to make a profit in any month you joined.

3 THE BANKER

The Banker is a series of computational Horse Racing models, which use data to generate high and sustainable long term yields. Tips are only for horses to win, there are no eachways in this service. The Bet Win rate and Race Win rate are therefore the same at 15%. The couple of tips per day should be easy to manage but the all-time ROI at BSP of -14% is an indication that it could be difficult to get the advised odds at times.
Overall though, Thebanker is a medium-risk service that has appeared in top ROI performers for 3, 6 and 12 months periods in 10 out of the 12 months of 2023 (MoC) which shows a high level of consistency. And at 2 tips a day and 41% ROI there’s very little to argue about.

4 ON TARGET TIPS

On Target Tips has been advising Race Winner tips for over four years now and has a pretty good Win Rate of14% on selections at odds around 10. It’s a medium risk service that produces a reasonable 23% ROI and a profit of over 4000 units. Stakes are a level 10 point per bet and tips are published 12 to 24 hours ahead of the event typically between 4pm to 12 am.
It has appeared on the top tipsters chart in 10 of the last 12 months which shows a high level of consistency. Combining this with the 82% Profitable Months figure this indicates a very solid performer.

5 PROFITABLE PICKS

A mix of Each Way and Race Winner tips at odds hovering around 10 has delivered a 23% ROI and produced an average monthly profit of over 200 units. There have been 31 profitable months from 40 months of service and the ROI over the past year (70%) and has varied from -15% in Feb to 68% in March. This variance puts it in the fairly high risk band although appearing in the top tipsters charts 10 months out of 12 is a big thumbs up for consistency.

6 MODEL MAN

The Model Man service is a “Sophisticated Horse racing and sports betting models beating sports betting markets from a full time professional gambler of 10 years”. Again this is a mixed service recommending Eachway and Race Winner tips and is one of the shortest running tipsters on this list. One thing to note is the very high number of tips per day mostly published late evening UK time so you’ll need to be a bit of a night-owl to catch the advised odds.
This is a low risk tipster producing a very good 39% ROI and delivering over 16,000 units of profit although the negative ROI at BSP might mean a bit of a challenge getting the tips’ advised odds.

7 ELITE HORSE TIPS

A predominantly each-way betting service with a tip Win Rate of 29% and a Race WIn rate of 6%. The profit of over 9000 units was produced from an average 5 tips a day typically posted around 4am to 8am and an ROI of 23%. It’s a medium risk tipping service that’s had only 3 losing months out of 30 – an 87% profitable months profile – the highest in this list. Elite Horse Tips has been in the top tipsters lists on 9 out of 12 occasions in 2023.

8 WON RACING TIP

The -18% ROI at BSP is an indication that you’ll need to be on the ball to catch the advised odds but with only one 1 tip per day published 8am to 12 pm that may not pose too much of a difficulty.
An ROI of 34% and a profit of over 2,000 units in the year is very good. And appearing on the top tipsters list 10 months out of 12 is commendable. But it’s a high risk service. Monthly ROI’s ranged between -93% and 223% and only having 50% profitable months over 28 months tipping 2023 does put a slight dampener on things.

9 SMALL FIELD PUNTING

Seeking to find Race Winners in smaller fields at value odds Smallfieldpunting has produced a 14% Race Win rate on average odds of 10 and produced 28% ROI.  Performance was flat during the Sept-Oct-Nov period but it still managed to make a appearance in the top tipsters chart on 8 of the 12 months. Monthly ROI was pretty erratic however, with a low of -20% in January and a high of 105% in July which makes it a relatively high-risk service. But the 74% profitable months over 31 months of tipping does offset this somewhat.
There’s 2 tips a day on average published mostly 4pm afternoon to midnight UK time. The -8% ROI at BSP is an indicator you’ll probably need to be quick to get the advised odds but as an easy-to-follow service and even a small drop in odds could still bring in close to that 28% ROI.

10 SVB TIPS

SVB Tips is a multi-sport service that’s at the lowest cost on Tipstrr- only £19/mth. Football is mixed with Horse Racing with equal success. Racing and Football tips have delivered 22% ROI each. As they say it’s like having two tipsters in one. In 2023 there were only 2 losing months and on average you’d have lost 56 points. In the other 10 profitable months the average monthly profit was 378 points each month. So in 2023 you had an 80% chance of making 378 points profit versus a 20% chance of losing 56 points. With relatively small variation in the monthly ROI figures this makes SVB Tips a low-risk service. And although getting the advised odds might be more difficult than you’d like there’s only a couple of tips a day to worry about.
